When Dell Software Group was purchased by Quest Software, individual product designers were consolidated into a centralized design team that would work with developers to create the new pattern and component library for the whole portfolio of products.
Here is an example of some of the items that will go into the pattern library. These will be split up and paired with the proper code snippets and stored in a centralized internal repository along with the written usage guidelines.
Below is a sample of a work-in-progress writeup I authored for a component in the pattern library. Most of the research is compiled from UX best practices researched by organizations like Nielsen Norman Group.
